The setting described puts the reader right there. When you
finish reading the book you feel like your vacation on Resolution
has ended and it is time to return home.
The author has the characters dealing with multifaceted issues
such as: abandonment, adoption, murder, drugs, environmental
standards, fidelity, love in marriage, love as a choice, an unwed
mom raising a child, consistency in parenting health problems
and many humorous situations.
This is the first book I read of the authors. Although this is the
third book in the author’s Resolution trilogy, it can be read as
a stand alone.

This third book in the Resolution series is another great read. This book, though part of a series, can also stand alone. Characters from previous books in the series also make an appearance. Anika has had a rough life. She was rescued from living with her alcoholic mother as a child and went to live with her aunt. She desired to avoid making the same mistakes her mother made, but finds herself pregnant as a teenager and briefly turns to alcohol to escape. The father of her baby has no desire to be a father and take responsibility, so encourages her to have an abortion. Ani chooses to keep the baby and eventually moves to Resolution Island to make a new life for herself and her young son. While there, the paternal grandfather sues for custody of her son. She also meets an American who has travelled to Australia to fulfill the dying wish of his mother (another story in itself!) and has to face long buried attitudes and bitterness, before she can allow herself to love. A murder, an illegal fishing ring, and the disappearance of her son add to the many twists to this beautiful story of love and forgiveness. I highly recommend this book. It does have some mature themes that would make this inappropriate for a younger audience.

I really like Rose Dee's books. I've read two so far, both of them in the Resolution series.
Rose does not shy away from gritty situations, terrible legacies, or realistic reactions. Her characters sometimes hit rock bottom before they ever look up, and I think that's why they seem to grow so authentically.

In A New Resolution, Anika is a woman scarred by betrayal in her past... betrayal over and over, neglect and abuse.
All she wants or hopes for herself is to be in the best mother possible for her own son Kye, and she's convinced that she cannot even do that right.
In Ani's mind, this out-of-wedlock child proves that she is a repeat of her mother, and her son doesn't deserve that anymore than she did.

How is one girl like herself going to give a good life to a precious child?

So go to Resolution Island in Australian, and meet Ani and Kye. Now add a man who hasn't lived the best life up to this point, yet who is beginning to change. Nate in his former life is exactly what Ani doesn't need, but with his heart growing soft, could he be a blessing in disguise? Now it's time we encounter a mystery, one that adds danger and murder.
This book will make a great summer read.

A New Resolution is the third and final installment in Rose Dee’s novels centered on a land called Resolution. The series begins with Back to Resolution followed by Beyond Resolution where various characters adventures are introduced. Due to some of the content of the story and human interactions referred to, the books shouldn’t be read by young people.
As an adult reading the novels, it was captivating to see how the young female in the story named Anika handles being single and pregnant at the age of seventeen. The intense feelings of abandonment and anger at herself and Heath, plus her decision to keep the baby lead Anika on a path of discovery. She had been rescued from a fatherless home where her mother did little to care, provide and protect her to a totally different life is well written by Rose Dee.
Nate returns home to Texas to the ranch for the funeral of his mother. He too grew up without the presence of his father in his life. Now, his mother, according to her will has set the path her son must travel in order to inherit, but Nate soon learns the reason for her wishes goes beyond money. When Anika and Nate’s paths cross, what God has planned for them takes them through trials and temptations. Is it possible for either or both of them to have a different future other than the one their pasts might curse them to?
Each novel written in the trilogy deals with how faith can change a heart and impacts a life if the character is willing to depend on the Lord daily. There are action, adventure, suspense, romance and hope in the stories that made the books fun to read. A New Resolution made a life of discovery very appealing plus the author shares many truths from Scripture that help the characters as they face some serious and intimidating threats to their lives on Resolution. Spend some down-time reading from this Australian author while sitting in the sun!
